Meet Our Church Staff

Pastor Tim Trexler is a native of Rowan County, growing up in Salisbury, NC. He attended  Campbell University (1984-1988) where he played baseball and majored in Religion.  Tim attended Southeastern Seminary and received his Masters of Divinity in 1995. During his time in seminary, he served as Youth Minister at Buies Creek Baptist Church in Buies Creek, NC, and at Boiling Spring Baptist Church in Boiling Springs, NC. Upon graduation he served as pastor at Lee Street Memorial Baptist Church in the inner city area of Baltimore, Maryland, for five years.  In July of 2000, he accepted the call to Mt. Sinai Baptist Church. Tim is the son of the late Jim and Shirley Trexler of Salisbury, NC. He is married to Lisa Sorrells Trexler who is employed by Cleveland Community College as a Librarian.   They have two grown children Kari Trexler Willis and T.J.  Kari is married to Andy Willis and is employed with Atrium Health Cleveland as a pharmacist. She and Andy have a daughter Eliza and are expecting a baby boy in December. T.J. is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a major in Business. Tim says there was a time in his life that he found his identity in sports and accomplishments. However, in Christ he found true meaning and significance through a daily personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Now he lives with daily purpose and peace. Andrew grew up in the Mt. Sinai Community.  He attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where he majored in Accounting and Finance.  During his time at UNCC he fell in love with Jesus and rededicated his life.  It was there that he felt called into full time ministry.  Andrew served on staff with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship at Appalachian State University for five years.  He is married to Grace Bowen who is a Dialysis Nurse here in Shelby.  They have a dog named Belle, who you can see running around their yard or wanting love from others!  Andrew sees it as a privilege to serve Jesus and if you have any questions about how you can have a relationship with Christ, please feel free to reach out to him at 704-482-5871.

Brandy has lived in the Mt. Sinai community her entire life and has attended Mt. Sinai Church since before she was born.  She accepted Christ as her personal Savior when she was 9 years old at GA camp.  Brandy graduated from Crest High School in 1996 where she played 5 varsity sports and played french horn in the marching band. She graduated from UNC-Wilmington in 2000 with a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.  Brandy married Kevin, her childhood sweetheart, in 2001 and they have 3 precious children (Andy Danielle - 20, Annabelle - 18, Arlie - 10)  They also have a dog Polka.  Brandy has worked as a med/surg nurse at Cleveland Regional Hospital, a PACU/endo nurse at Kings Mountain Hospital; and she currently works part-time as an employee health nurse at Caromont Regional.  She enjoys spending time with her family, being outdoors, playing sports, cooking, cleaning & singing.  

Dana grew up in the Mt. Sinai community.  She has attended Mt. Sinai Baptist since before she was born.  Dana accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior in the 4th grade.  She graduated from Crest High School in 1995 and graduated with a Masters Degree in Communication Disorders from Appalachian State University in 2001.  Currently, Dana serves as a Speech-Language Pathologist for the Cleveland County School system.  She brings a lifetime of musical background and experience to Mt. Sinai.  Dana considers it a tremendous privilege and blessing to help lead others closer to Christ through the gift of music. 

Being born into a musical family in the Mt. Sinai Community, Annette began studying piano at the age of 8.   As a pre-teen, she was born spiritually into God's family and began playing the piano at Mt. Sinai Church for varried events.  Latter, she studied organ at GWU and accepted the position of church organist.  Annette is married to Lee, and they have two children, Jason and Dana.  She is retired from the Cleveland County School system and enjoys gardening, hiking, and spending time with family and friends. 

Joy is a native of Hendersonville, NC and has lived in South Carolina for 25 years. She is married to Jimmy King and has two sons, Matthew and Tim, daughter-in-laws Danielle and Jennifer and five grandchildren. She began playing the piano for Fruitland Baptist Church in Hendersonville when she was ten years old and has a long career as a church pianist and accompanist. Her favorite activities are reading and research, genealogy, crocheting and fellowshipping with family and friends.
